Overview
Sanchez is a contact-oriented outfielder with, according to Baseball America, average speed and defensive ability in center, and a little above-average arm. So far he’s generally had good walk and at least reasonable K rates. He hasn’t hit for more than gap power and has done well stealing bases. The Pirates acquired Sanchez in the David Bednar trade, the second time he was traded in his first two and a half years as a pro.
2023-25
Sanchez put up fairly similar numbers in his first three seasons. He never had a batting average below .281, and had an OPS of .860 in the DSL in 2023, .908 in the FCL in 2024, and .811 up through the trade in the FSL in 2025. The lower number in 2025 probably owed something to the strong pitching environment in the league. His power dropped off that year, from a slugging average of .514 in 2024 to .438, but again the league might have played a role. His walk rate went from 11.6% in 2024 to 12.6% in 2025, and his K rate from 20.7% to 23.4%. Between the two seasons, Sanchez stole 40 bases in 47 tries. He played all three outfield positions, more often center and left.
The Pirates acquired Sanchez at the trade deadline. He was already hurt at that point and did not play the rest of the season.
