A full-time move to the bullpen has Luis Peralta among the best performers in the Pirates system currently
One of the biggest surprises this season in the Pirates’ system has to be left-handed pitcher Luis Peralta.
There has never been a question in the stuff that Peralta has, it’s always been if he’d be able to control it enough to advance through the season.
After spending two years in Bradenton, where he walked 15% of the batters he faced, his outlook didn’t look good, as he’d be entering the 2024 season at 23 years old with no experience above Single-A.
Still, the Pirates pushed him up to Greensboro and made the full-time switch to being a reliever.
Peralta has responded incredibly well to the new role, mowing through High-A before being promoted to Double-A Altoona.
