Overview

Arizona drafted Fletcher in the second round as a defense-first outfielder. His speed is fringy, but he gets very good jumps and rates as an above-average defender at all three outfield positions. His arm is above average. He’s a smaller guy who’s a contact oriented hitter, but he’s shown some ability to turn on the ball. His walk rates have generally been marginal and his K rates fairly low. Fletcher has had some large platoon splits, but they’ve been smaller in the last few years. The Pirates signed Fletcher to a minor league deal for 2026.

2019-22

Fletcher reached the upper minors quickly. Arizona sent him to low A after he signed and he hit well, 318/389/463 over 55 games. He didn’t play in 2020, then in 2021 the D’backs jumped him up to AA for the full season. He hit 264/314/445 with 15 home runs. His walk rate was low, at 6%, and his K rate was 25%.

Arizona sent Fletcher back to AA in 2022, then promoted him to AAA after 32 games. He tore up AA, batting 346/408/591, then 301/368/452 the rest of the way in AAA. The latter numbers have to be viewed with some caution because Fletcher was in the hitting-happy Pacific Coast League. On the year he had 12 home runs. After the season, the D’backs added Fletcher to their 40-man roster.

2023-25

Fletcher went back to AAA to start 2023, then got called up at the end of April. He was up and down a couple more times, ultimately playing in 28 games in the majors before going out for the year with a broken finger in late August. He hit well in AAA, posting a 291/399/500 line with good walk and K rates of 13% and 19%, respectively. He had ten home runs in AAA. In the majors, Fletcher hit 301/350/441. After the season, Arizona traded Fletcher to the White Sox.

In 2024, Fletcher opened the season in the majors, but struggled there and was up and down several times. He also missed over a month with a shoulder strain. Fletcher ultimately played 24 games in AAA and 72 in the majors. He didn’t hit as well in AAA as previously, maybe in part because he was in the International League. His OPS there was .723. In the majors he hit just 206/252/256, with only one home run in 240 plate appearances. His walk rate in the majors was just 5% and his K rate 24%.

Fletcher spent most of 2025 in AAA. The White Sox outrighted him at the start of the season, then recalled him in early September. He got into a dozen major league games and had a .733 OPS. In AAA, he hit 260/317/453 with a career high 17 home runs, a 7% walk rate and a 20% K rate. The White Sox outrighted Fletcher again after the season and he elected free agency.
