Gameday 101: Paul Skenes on the mound as Pirates look to clinch series against Cardinals
Skenes looks for seventh win of season
In one of the season's biggest games for the Pirates so far, Mitch Keller pitched seven strong innings, keeping the game close until the offense finally broke through in the bottom of the eighth.
Oneil Cruz drove in the game's first run with an RBI single that scored Andrew McCutchen. Nolan Gorman answered for the Cardinals with a solo home run that hit the foul pole.
Nick Gonzales continued his flair for the dramatics, driving in Bryan Reynolds in the eighth to give the Pirates the lead and eventually the win.
Pittsburgh can clinch a key series against a divisional opponent with All-Star Paul Skenes on the mound. He will face Lance Lynn for the Cardinals.
First pitch is expected around 6:40 pm ET.

Lots of rehab stuff. Ashcraft and Jones appear to be progressing fine. Falter to start rehab Wed. Endy may do some MiL DHing this year. His rehab seems to be going extremely well.
Termarr singled first time up. Hitting streak is 16.
