Gameday 119: Luis Ortiz on the mound trying to stop the Pirates' losing streak
Ortiz looking for the sixth win of the season.
The Pittsburgh Pirates' losing streak has reached eight games after they dropped the first of three on the road against the San Diego Padres.
Jake Woodford pitched well, throwing six-plus innings in which he allowed three hits and an earned run while striking out two. The offense went 1-10 with runners in scoring position, however, only scoring a lone run.
Luis Ortiz gets the start, who has struggled a bit recently. He’s allowed 13 earned runs in his last 16.1 innings pitched, although some of the runs were clumped together in bigger innings.
The Padres will send out Michael King, who allowed four runs (three earned runs) across five innings in his last start—also against the Pirates.
The first pitch is scheduled at 9:40 pm ET.

Ok, mentioned it last night but just got an email that Substack about to do an update, so the site may be unavailable for a hour here.
Just wanted to let everyone know since the game still on
Ortiz really has us wanting him out the rotation at first, but by the end of the night we like ‘ok he did well’ lol
