Gameday 127: Pirates Look For Second Consecutive Sweep Of Cardinals
Luis Ortiz returns to the Pirates to make the last start of a three game series against the Cardinals
Johan Oviedo pitched five innings of one-run baseball, and the bullpen was able to close it out from there as the Pirates won Tuesday night by a score of 6-3 against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Andrew McCutchen hit career home run 299, Connor Joe hit yet another double as the Pirates offense put up all six runs against Adam Wainwright, who has historically had their number throughout his career.
Wednesday sees a day game to close out the series, as the Pirates will recall Luis Ortiz to make the start. He’s struggled in Triple-A since going back down, and will get at least one other chance in the starting rotation here.
After this game, the Pirates will open up a four game series against another divisional opponent, the Chicago Cubs.
