Gameday 128: Battle of lefties in second of four-game series between the Pirates and Reds
Bailey Falter vs Buck Farmer
The Pittsburgh Pirates, after winning on Thursday, look to clinch at least a series split in their four-game set against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday.
Paul Skenes, Ben Heller, and Hunter Stratton combined to pitch a shutout on the mound, and the offense came alive to score seven runs.
Bryan De La Cruz came through with his first two extra-base hits as a Pirate. Bryan Reynolds also recorded a multi-hit day.
Friday, the Pirates will see their fourth straight lefty, Andrew Abbott. The former UVA pitcher is 10-10 on the year and is coming off a loss his last time on the mound.
Bailey Falter will pitch for the Pirates, who struck out eight over 5.2 innings pitched in a win against the Mariners in his previous start.
Update: Andrew Abbott was placed on the injured list today, so Buck Farmer will start for the Reds.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 pm ET.

Just saw the Mariners hired Edgar Martinez as hitting coach for the rest of the season. It may work out or may not, but at least they recognize the problem and are addressing it. Glaring contrast with who-gives-a-shit Cherington.
Carlson Reed had quite an outing for Greensboro.
