Gameday 128: Pirates Take On Cubs In Four Game Weekend Series
After taking two of three against the St. Louis Cardinals, the Pirates take on another divisional opponent, the Chicago Cubs.
The Pirates couldn’t close out their series against the St. Louis Cardinals, dropping game three by the score of 6-4.
They did take two of those three games, which means they were able to stay ahead of the Cardinals in fourth place of the division.
Speaking of the division, the Pirates will now take on the Chicago Cubs, who currently sit second in the NL Central, and in one of the three wild card spots.
While the Pirates have had success against the Cardinals this season, the Pirates have dropped all six games and have been outscored 48-14 against the Cubs in 2023.
Ke’Bryan Hayes has been hot as of late, and is 2-for-4 with a home run against today’s projected starter for Chicago, Justin Steele. On the other hand, Andrew McCutchen - despite his success against lefties - is just 1-for-15 career against Steele.
