Gameday 140: Pirates look to rebound after getting no-hit by the Cubs
Bailey Falter vs Jake Irvin
Wednesday night may have been rock bottom for the Pittsburgh Pirates, as not only did they lose 12-0, but they were also no-hit.
With 23 games left in the season, the Pirates need 11 wins to finish with the same amount of wins they had in 2023.
They open up a four-game series against the Washington Nationals on Thursday. The second overall pick in last year’s draft, Dylan Crews, is up with the team and has seven hits in his first 33 at-bats, including two home runs and two doubles.
Another one of their super-talented prospects, James Wood, has been up longer and is batting .277 with five home runs (18 total extra-base hits) in 56 games.
Bailey Falter will get the start for the Pirates, facing righty Jake Irvin.
