Gameday 22: Pirates look to avoid second straight sweep
Pirates losing streak currently at five games.
The Pittsburgh Pirates' losing streak was extended to five games after they lost to the Boston Red Sox on Saturday.
Mitch Keller allowed four earned runs in six innings, and the offense could only score a pair of runs against Red Sox starter Kutter Crawford.
The offense has struggled during the losing streak, scoring just eight runs in the five games.
Martin Perez is on the mound for the Pirates to try and put them in position to get back in the win column. Another loss would make it six straight and drop the Pirates to a .500 record at 11-11.
First pitch is expected at 1:35 pm ET.

Yesterday’s Feature
Lonnie White Jr. has started on a tear this season, flashing his raw power early and often. I look at what he’s been doing so well and what can unleash his potential.
Today’s Feature
It’s been a rough start to the season for a lot of the hitting prospects in the system. I look at one prospect per level who has had a solid start to the year.

Well, at least Lauer’s been near-perfect for Indy. Thru 5, one guy reached on an error. 8 Ks. Priester probably needs to get it in gear.
This game is a microcosm of why this team just cannot win. Just horrendous situational hitting; thrown out running the bases repeatedly; absolutely mindless bullpen management (using your most reliable reliever as a mop-up guy after a AAA reliever blows the game open trying to get out of a jam); bonehead defensive plays resulting in unearned runs. If Cherington wants to die on the hill of this coaching staff.... then he needs to actually die on that hill.
