Gameday 25: Pirates look to make it three in a row and a series win against Brewers
Josh Fleming will get the start for the Pirates.
Behind seven strong innings from Bailey Falter, the Pittsburgh Pirates won their second straight game, defeating the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1.
Andrew McCutchen hit a lead-off home run for the second straight game, and Falter struck out eight batters over 7+ innings pitched.
They will turn to Josh Fleming, who will make his first start for the Pirates, in what could be an opener situation.
Quinn Priester took over this spot in the rotation when Marco Gonzales went on the injured list.
Priester didn’t have the best of starts last time, so the Pirates could be looking to shake things up and try something different.
The Pirates tried using an opener in front of Priester twice last year in the majors but with little success. He allowed eight earned runs in 10 innings pitched.
It did, however, work better for him in the minors, as he struck out 10 over 5.2 innings coming in after an opener.
