After a smooth start, Mitch Keller had a rough fourth and fifth innings, allowing five runs, four of which were earned. He allowed eight hits and a walk, while striking out three.
Adam Fraizer hit his second home run, going 1-2. Bryan Reynolds picked up two hits, giving him five in the last three games.
Bailey Falter will get the nod for the Pirates on Saturday. He’s looking to bounce back after a rough start on the road against the Dodgers, where he allowed five earned runs over 4.1 innings pitched.
The Padres will have Randy Vasquez make his seventh start of the season. He allowed three earned runs over 4.2 innings pitched. He nearly has double the walks (19) than he does strikeouts (10).
