Gameday 59: Quinn Priester on the mound as Pirates look for series win in Canada
After trying the series up on Saturday, Pirates look for the win on Sunday.
Mitch Keller pitched six innings of one-run baseball to pick up his seventh win of the season and has won five in a row.
The offense came alive, scoring eight runs on 11 hits, including home runs by Ke’Bryan Hayes and Bryan Reynolds.
Now with an opportunity to take the three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays, the Pirates will send Quinn Priester to the mound.
He last pitched for Triple-A Indianapolis last Sunday, throwing seven innings of one-hit, shutout baseball. Priester’s last appearance for the Pirates was on May 14 against the Milwaukee Brewers, where he allowed four earned runs over six innings pitched.
The Blue Jays will have Chris Bassitt on the mound with an expected start time of 1:37 pm ET.

Esmerlyn Valdez is one of the more exciting young players on the Bradenton Marauders this year. I talked to Jim Horner, who coached him last year in the FCL as well, about Valdez.

There'll be lots of grousing about Priester and Stratton, but the simple, never-changing factor that dominates with this team is that these guys can't hit. This is year five of the offensive clown show. Until the idiot in charge does something about that, nothing will change.
And Koch provides example #57,398,365 of why no-bat players are a bad thing.
