Gameday 61: Paul Skenes on the mound as Pirates have chance to claim series against Dodgers
Paul Skenes to face James Paxton in the second of a three game set.
A solo home run by Jack Suwinski was all that the Pittsburgh Pirates needed to take the first of a three-game set against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Jared Jones pitched six shutout innings, and Colin Holderman, Aroldis Chapman, and David Bednar combined to slam the door shut as the Pirates won 1-0.
Jones struck out six across six innings and had multiple pitches of 101 mph or better. The Pirates offense only picked up four hits—two of which came from Bryan Reynolds—but they still put up the only run of the game.
Game two will feature Paul Skenes, coming off his second win in the majors. James Paxton, who is 5-0 on the season, will get the start for the Dodgers.
First pitch is expected around 6:40 pm ET.
