Gameday 81: Pirates reach half season mark while playing Brewers
Andrew Heaney vs Freddy Peralta
The Pittsburgh Pirates took the first of three against the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-4, behind five hits from Nick Gonzales.
It was the first five-hit game of his career, and lifted his average to .320. Bryan Reynolds also had a pair of hits, and Tommy Pham hit his first home run as a Pirate.
Braxton Ashcraft made his first major league start, tossing three shutout innings, striking out two. David Bednar pitched the ninth and picked up his 11th save of the season.
Andrew Heaney will be on the mound as the Pirates have an opportunity to clinch a series on the road. This will also be the 81st game of the season, which marks the halfway point.

Yesterday’s Feature
10 Observations: Dominican League looks, Esmerlyn Valdez, Zander Mueth
Murphy 6/16: A lot of attention goes to his power potential, so it’s easy to forget that Darell Morel is a good runner. He has a slightly open stance at the plate, and his swing seems to be a smooth operation. Morel is walking a good amount to start, and although he isn’t hitting for a high average, he’s getting to some power already.

Cook with his first dinger. Three-run shot, so he didn't waste it.
In case anybody's fretting about KG being 0-for-2 so far, he's lined out twice. They're up 5-0 so he's probably conserving his energy.
