The Pittsburgh Pirates won their fifth straight game, 1-0, and can go for a second straight sweep today.
Whereas the previous four games were offensive outbursts by the Pirates, things were much closer on Tuesday. They had one hit going into the bottom of the eighth inning, but picked up three more there, with Henry Davis hitting the deciding sacrifice fly to give the Pirates their only run of the game.
Paul Skenes tossed five shutout innings, striking out five while allowing five hits and a walk. Caleb Ferguson, Isaac Mattson, and David Bednar helped close things out.
It was the 12th save of the season for Bednar.
Wednesday will be the last home game until after the All-Star break, as the Pirates will head on the road for nine straight.
Mitch Keller will get the start for the Pirates and will face off against Sonny Gray. First pitch is scheduled for 12:35 pm ET.
