Gameday 95: Luis Ortiz on the mound to face the White Sox

Pirates can clinch series with win on Saturday

Marco Gonzales returned from his injured list stint to pitch five innings of one-run ball and eventually picked up his first win in a Pirates uniform.

Carmen Mlodzinski, Colin Holderman, and David Bednar all pitched in relief as the Pirates beat the White Sox 4-1.

Ke’Bryan Hayes had a multi-hit game and four players had extra-base hits for the offense.

They will look to clinch the series on Saturday with a win, as Luis Ortiz will take the mound. Ortiz has been fantastic as the ‘bulk’ guy out of the bullpen and, more recently, as a part of the rotation.

Chris Flexen will pitch for the White Sox. They are one loss away from reaching 70 before the All-Star break.

First pitch is expected at 2:10 pm ET.
