Gameday 98: Luis Ortiz looks to help Pirates clinch series against Phillies
Pirates won game one on a walk-off single in the ninth.
The Pittsburgh Pirates scored the final four runs of the night, coming from behind to win in the bottom of the ninth against the Philadelphia Phillies.
It was the first game after the All-Star break, and the win pushed the Pirates to one game over .500 with a record of 49-48.
Martin Perez struggled, but the bullpen shut down the Phillies’ offense over the final 5.1 innings, with Kyle Nicolas allowing the only run.
The top of the order had multiple-hit games, with Oneil Cruz reaching safely three times. Nick Gonzales drove in the winning run on a single in the bottom of the ninth.
Luis Ortiz will get the start, hoping to continue his strong play. He will face Cristopher Sanchez.
