Overview

The Pirates drafted McMillan as a senior from Alabama. He started for two years there, posting an ERA of 4.49 and WHIP of 1.25. He had good control but didn’t run up a high strikeout rate. He missed the early part of his senior year with a muscle strain. Prior to his time at Alabama, McMillan pitched for Shelton State CC.

2023-24

McMillan pitched once in the FCL after signing. He retired only one of the five batters he faced. In 2024, he spent most of the season in the Bradenton bullpen. He started off slowly, with opponents putting up a 1.083 OPS against him in April and .763 in May. In each month after that the figure was under .600. He finished with a 2.92 ERA for the Marauders, as well as a 1.28 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9 and 9.7 K/9. The Pirates promoted McMillan to Greensboro in mid-August and he dominated there over seven games, including three starts. In 21 innings, he gave up just 16 hits and four walks, and fanned 28.
