Jaden Woods: Secondary stuff missed bats in pro debut with Bradenton

The Pittsburgh Pirates had a very obvious ‘type’ when it comes to the 2023 MLB draft. Basically, while scouting eventually first overall pick Paul Skenes, they pulled a double-duty and heavily took a look at other SEC pitchers, more specifically, relievers.
Jaden Woods was one of them.
An interesting prospect heading into the season, Woods’ stock was set to see a huge jump moving into the Georgia rotation.
He missed time with an injury, and the base numbers in the 10 starts he did make weren’t overly flattering.
Still, he struck out just under 30% of the batters he faced (29.5%), and did improve his walk rate compared to his sophomore season (13.3% to 11.9%).
