Overview

Jones is a big first baseman whose game is power. He puts up very high exit velocities, has a high barrel rate and can hit the ball out of any part of the park. As a sophomore, he hit 28 home runs and slugged .747. As a junior he hit 323/414/613 with 22 home runs. As you might expect, there’s a great deal of swing and miss, as he chases a lot and has a low contact rate. Jones fanned in 26.1% of his plate appearances in 2025, and his walk rate decreased from 20% in 2024 to 11.7%. He doesn’t run well and is probably limited to first base, where he has limited range. He does have a strong arm. MLB Pipeline ranked Jones 101st among draft prospects, Baseball America 205th. He signed for the slot value.

2025

Jones got into 15 games with Greensboro after signing. He hit about like his college performance suggested. He went 8-for-50 with a double and four home runs, six walks and, ominously, 26 strikeouts.
