Josiah Sightler: Patience At Plate Led To Big Hits For Bradenton Marauders
The college draft pick hit the ground running once joining the Bradenton Marauders and hit the whole time through until his promotion to High-A Greensboro.
After missing the first part of the season, Josiah Sightler has been working quickly to make up for lost time. It took him only six games to hit out of the Complex League, before taking on Single-A pitching with the Marauders.
Sightler was one of the few position players taken by the Pirates in the 2022 draft, and as a senior signing out of South Carolina, not much was originally thought of him as a prospect.
He didn’t play much his first two years on campus, but then hit 22 home runs the next two (15 his senior year), before getting drafted.
After joining the Marauders, he immediately picked up hits in the first eight games he played, as well as 16-of-18 overall.
Sightler quickly cemented himself in the middle of the Bradenton order, spending the majority of his time as the cleanup hitter. He rolled through the level quickly, getting promoted to High-A on July 25, immediately playing for the Greensboro Grasshoppers (picking up a home run too).
