Live Report: Derek Diamond secondaries, Garrett McMillan tunneling, Jack Brannigan doubles
More looks at players in Greensboro includes Derek Diamond, Garrett McMillan and Jack Brannigan
GREENSBORO—With a 4-3 win on Friday, the Greensboro Grasshoppers locked in at least a series split against the Bowling Green Hot Rods.
Derek Diamond started and allowed three runs on five hits while striking out two. Garrett McMillan followed him up and continued his strong run in High-A, retiring all nine hitters he faced in order and picking up another strikeout.
Jack Brannigan was the star of the offensive side, hitting his 18th home run of the season and a couple of doubles. He is just coming off the injured list, but with a pair of home runs this weekend, he could get to 20 despite playing fewer games than a year ago.
Lonnie White Jr. picked up a hit in his third straight game after starting the week with a four-strikeout performance. He’s driven a couple of balls to the outfield and swiped a couple of bags, but nothing too explosive yet.
There were a couple of pitchers I hadn’t seen this week until Friday, so they will be the focus of today’s live report.
