Live looks at Michael Kennedy, Magdiel Cotto, and Javier Rivas from Greensboro
GREENSBORO—Saturday was an old-fashioned pitchers duel between the Greensboro Grasshoppers and Bowling Green Hot Rods.
The game had six hits, with an Omar Alfonzo home run the difference. Michael Kennedy took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and struck out a career-high 10 batters.
He walked a pair of hitters in the first inning and then didn’t allow another baserunner until the infield single that also bumped him from the game in the sixth.
In just his second start at the level, Kennedy threw 75 pitches, 50 of which went for strikes.
Brody Hopkins was also fantastic for Bowling Green, allowing just a hit and walk while striking out seven in six innings pitched. He reached 98 mph with his fastball multiple times and mixed in a slider and change-up.
It was Kennedy who stole the show, though, as he dazzled despite only reaching 90 mph one time on the night.
