Overview
McShane continued a run on day three of the draft of the Pirates selecting players not on anybody’s prospect lists. He was a reliever for three years at St. Joseph’s. He has a high-effort delivery that gets his fastball to the 93-95 mph range, along with a gyro slider that may be his best pitch, and a curve. McShane had a 2.40 ERA as a freshman, then had a rough sophomore season. As a junior, he had a 3.95 ERA, with 18 walks and 57 strikeouts in 43.1 IP.
