Michael Kennedy: Mound presence beyond years as teenager in Single-A
The young lefty has shown an impressive mound presence, and baseball knowledge
The Pittsburgh Pirates have done a fantastic job when it comes to drafting and developing prep pitchers.
One in the lower levels (and currently out with an injury) is left-handed pitcher Michael Kennedy. Drafted in the fourth round out of New York, Kennedy was one of the youngest players available, as he didn’t turn 18 until the end of the year.
So, he’s pitched the entire 2024 season at 19 years old.
Despite his young age, Kennedy has an advanced mindset on the mound. While he was one of the better pitchers in the Florida Complex League last year, Kennedy knew there was more he could do.
He credited Bradenton pitching coach Matt Ford with helping him use his stuff to get to the next level.
