MLB Draft 2024: Who will the Pittsburgh Pirates take at 1.9?
A look at some of the top players who could be available with the ninth overall pick
The 2024 MLB Draft is just a few days away, and it is still hard to figure out what the teams may do at the top.
For the Pittsburgh Pirates, who own the ninth overall pick, there is no shortage of possible outcomes regarding who may be available.
There are a few names that few believe there is a possibility that they slip as far as the ninth pick for the Pirates to pick, but even outside of them, there is a group of potentially 10 players that make a case to get selected.
The Pipe Dreams
Four names seem unlikely to be available for the Pirates at the ninth overall pick—Travis Bazzana, Charlie Condon, JJ Wetherholt, and Jac Caglianone.
Those four seem very likely to go with the first few picks, and something incredibly unpredictable would have to happen to see any of them there, although there are more scenarios where a Caglianone or Wetherhold drop than Bazzana and Condon.
