MLB Draft 2025: Who will be available for the Pittsburgh Pirates?
Exploring the options at the sixth overall pick for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The 2025 MLB Draft is scheduled to begin on Sunday, with the Pittsburgh Pirates holding the sixth overall pick.
While we will have more coverage on some of the other players available beyond the first pick, this will focus on who the Pirates will likely have their choice of when they are on the clock.
This draft is significantly more open-ended than previous editions, and there are numerous ways things can unfold once it gets underway. Add in the fact that the Nationals are selecting first overall and just fired their General Manager, and it seems hard to predict how things may fall into place.
At this point, it seems safe to say two players have little to no chance of falling to the sixth pick: Kade Anderson and Ethan Holliday.
Anderson is looked at as the top left-handed pitcher, as well as the top college arm. That could make him the first overall pick. Holliday, brother to Jackson, could be another option at 1.1 and isn’t believed to fall past the Colorado Rockies.
That leaves around eight names that could be available at 1.6, again depending on how things fall. Some of these names will be selected, but with Holliday and Anderson more than likely going in the top five, there will be several available to choose from.
