Morning Rundown: Carlos Castillo to injured list, David Matoma assigned to Bradenton
Another Marauders starter to the injured list, David Matoma joins Bradenton
After losing Zander Mueth earlier in the season, the Bradenton Marauders will be without another starting pitcher for now, as Carlos Castillo was placed on the injured list on April 24.
Castillo, 19, has made four starts for the Marauders this season, posting a 2.35 ERA in 15.1 innings pitched. He’s kept the walk rate under 10% (8.1%), but hasn’t punched out many hitters—five in total.
To take his place on the Bradenton roster, the Pirates moved up right-handed pitcher David Matoma from the Florida Complex League.
Matoma, also 19, pitched in the FCL last year, posting a 0.82 ERA in 22 innings pitched, racking up 28 strikeouts.
He also debuted on Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and a walk, striking out one in 1.1 innings pitched.
RHP Colin Holderman was activated off the injured list on Saturday. He last pitched in the majors on April 5. It was a rough night, as he failed to retire any of the three hitters he faced, including a lead-off home run to Teoscar Hernandez.
To make room on the active roster, RHP Mike Burrows was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis. He was promoted to take a spot in the bullpen, but never got into a game.

Horwitz to Altoona on rehab. That'll take care of Valdez, since we can't cut into Frazier's senior discount.
Holderman sucks.
