Morning Rundown: Carter Bins three-hit game, World Series matchup set
Cater Bins with a big game in the AFL while the Diamondbacks won game seven in the NLCS
Carter Bins has certainly made the most of his limited opportunities in the Arizona Fall League.
He has played in just seven of the team’s 20 games played so far, but has picked up 10 hits in 28 at-bats. Tuesday he picked up three hits, including a double, driving in a run and scoring twice himself.
On the season, Bins has slashed .357/.400/.679 with five of his 10 hits going for extra-bases.
Nick Dombkowski was unable to get out of his inning of work, pitching the sixth. He recorded just one out while allowing three runs (only one earned) on three hits and a walk. He has a 5.40 ERA during the fall season.
Down 0-2, the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied to eventually take the NLCS in game seven on the road, advancing to their first World Series since 2021.
They had to go on the road, facing elimination both times, and were able to limit the Phillies offense to just three runs in games six and seven combined.
After Brandon Pfaadt allowed two runs in four innings, the bullpen pitched a shutout the rest of the way, including Kevin Ginkel striking out the side in the eight.
Arizona got to Ranger Suarez early, with the Phillies eventually turning to Zack Wheeler out the bullpen to try and keep the game close.
The World Series will now come down to two teams that were among the worst in all of baseball just a few years ago. Of the four worst teams in 2021, the Rangers and Diamondbacks were two of them.
Now they will be competing against each other in the World Series.
Both teams had to erase 3-2 series deficits on the road, with the Rangers winning their game seven on Monday.
Game 1 will be on Friday in Texas, with an expected start time of 8:03 pm ET.
At the old place, I would pick fights with the Nutting’s Wallet crowd regarding the importance, or lack thereof, of money and MLB success. The trump card they always played was WS winners always come from top tier payroll teams. Which is true.
However if Snakes win this year, they will no longer be able to make that claim.
Let’s Go Snakes!
Mike Hazen has now pulled this turnaround off *twice*. Incredible story with his wife tragically passing last year.
