Morning Rundown: Catching up on the World Series two games in
Dodgers own 2-0 lead aheading to New York
We are now two games into the World Series, with the series about to shift from Los Angeles to New York, with the Dodgers holding a 2-0 lead.
Game one had perhaps the most dramatic finish in the history of the game. After tying the game in the bottom of the eighth, the Dodgers forced extra innings. They then faced a 3-2 deficit in the bottom of the 10th inning.
With one out, Nestor Cortes intentionally walked Mookie Betts to load the bases with Freddie Freeman due up.
The very first pitch he saw Freeman ripped 409 feet for a walk-off grand slam, the first ever in World Series history.
Game two saw the Dodgers jump out to a 4-1 lead in the third inning, hanging on to win 4-2 and take the 2-0 series lead.
Juan Soto hit his fourth home run of the postseason in a losing effort, but Teoscar Hernandez, Tommy Edman, and Freddie Freeman all went deep for the Dodgers.
The headline of the game was Shohei Ohtani getting hurt sliding into second base trying to steal. It was announced he suffered a subluxation (partial dislocation) of his left shoulder.
As of now, it does appear he is expected to play, but nothing is confirmed as of yet.
Ohtani is 13-50 (.260/.403/.460) with three home runs and 10 RBI in 13 games this postseason.
Game three will feature a pitching matchup of Walker Buehler and Clarke Schmidt.

There’s no doubt the Freeman GS HR will long be acknowledged as one of the great moments in World Series history. I personally don’t quite put it as high as Maz’s HR or Joe Carter’s HR because they were series clinching, but it’s definitely in the same zip code as Gibson’s and Fisk’s WS game winners.
If Clarke Schmidt can have a game that gets into the 6th or beyond, the Yankees have a chance to turn the momentum of this series. Also be interesting to see where Ohtani is in the lineup.
