Morning Rundown: Hunter Barco returns, Konnor Griffin has another multi-hit game
Barco pitches again, Griffin has big game for Bradenton
Hunter Barco left his first game with Triple-A Indianapolis due to an injury. After missing two weeks, he made his return, striking out seven batters over three innings pitched.
He also walked three and allowed a hit, but also picked up 14 whiffs on 27 swings (51.8 whiff%). It’s his seventh appearance (out of nine) where he hasn’t allowed a run. Barco currently sits with a 0.81 ERA.
Duce Gourson also made his return off the injured list, going 2-2 with two runs scored and a double. He’s hitting .256/.390/.442 with six doubles and two home runs, while also stealing 14 bags for the Greensboro Grasshoppers.
Shortstop Konnor Griffin came up with another big day, going 3-4 with two runs scored, a pair of RBI, a triple, and two stolen bases.
It’s the 17th game (out of 44) that he’s recorded multiple hits. Out of those 17, eight have been three or more.
With the pair of stolen bases, he’s up to 23 now on the season and is now hitting .313/.365/.516 with 19 extra base hits.
Greensboro Grasshoppers activated SS Duce Gourson from the 7-day injured list.
