Morning Rundown: Mets even series, Yankees win game one of ALCS, Khristian Curtis probable starter in AFL
Mets take game two in NLCS, Yankees win game one of ALCS, Curtis currently set to start in AFL
The New York Mets bounced back to even the NLCS at a game each, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-3. Mark Vientos hit a grand slam to open things up in the second inning, and the Mets never looked back.
Sean Manaea pitched five innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and four walks with seven strikeouts. It’s his second win of the postseason. Edwin Diaz struck out three over 1.1 innings to pick up his second save.
Los Angeles was able to string a couple of runs together, but not enough to overcome the early onslaught from the Mets.
Carlos Rodon struck out nine over six innings to pick up the win as the Yankees defeated the Cleveland Guardians in game one of the ALCS.
Juan Soto and Giancarlo Stanton hit home runs to fuel the offense. Luke Weaver struck out four in 1.2 innings to pick up his fourth save.
They will continue their series on Tuesday with game two, a pitching matchup between Tanner Bibee and Gerrit Cole.
After a few days off, the Scottsdale Scorpions will continue their AFL schedule on Tuesday, with Khristian Curtis the projected starter.
He has pitched just once in the fall league, but it was a good one. He struck out two in three perfect innings, picking up eight whiffs.
The Scorpions currently have the worst run differential in the AFL heading into Tuesday’s games.

A huge bump up for a SP who spent this year in A Ball. Khristian Curtis, our 12th Round pick the same year (2023) the Pirates changed their future by drafting Paul Skenes at 1-1, is getting the chance to get into the fast lane for 2025. Curtis finished his college career at Arizona State, so it might be a home game for him.
That same draft - possibly the best from BC - also brought #2S Zander Mueth, #4 Carlson Reed, #5 Patrick Reilly (traded for Billy Cook), and #7 Jaden Woods, as well as position players #3 Garret Forrester and #13 Charles McAdoo, both traded to try to add "now" hitting to the MLB Club (IKF, BDLC).
