Morning Rundown: Michael Kennedy pitches five innings again, Charles McAdoo homers
Michael Kennedy pitches five innings for Bradenton, Charles McAdoo goes deep
Michael Kennedy built off his previous start and now has two straight games of pitching at least five innings and walking zero batters.
Pitching against the Clearwater Threshers for the second time this season, Kennedy allowed just one run on four hits while striking out six batters. He has struck out 14 batters over his last two starts, spanning 10 innings pitched.
He threw 76 pitches, 54 of which were for strikes. While it’s not an overpowering fastball, it maxed out at 92 mph this time around, Kennedy has been getting a lot of miss lately.
After picking up 10 whiffs with the fastball last time around, he picked up seven more on Saturday, good for a 36% miss rate over his previous two starts.
The biggest thing, though, has been his control. He has just three walks in 17 innings this year, none of which have come in his last two starts.
Some of the Greensboro hitters started slowly, but the bats are coming alive a bit this week in Greensville.
Charles McAdoo hit a three-run home run that originally gave the Grasshoppers the lead. It was his second of the season, and he now has nine RBI.
He now sits in a tie for the team lead when it comes to RBI with Hudson Head and Lonnie White Jr.

Honestly, if we could all be honest with ourselves, not have an agenda for 1 second, being 14-14 with that lineup usually under performing hugely, that high priced(for us) closer tandem kinda a nightmare, and our starters being this, BOY, aren't they doing good, the positive👏👏👏👏... is Shelton really that bad🤷♂️🤔???? Or just lazy narrative, I dont care, just curious what thoughtful folks think🤷♂️, im sure most of the usual Shelton hater posts, end with LOL, so those arent serious posts, of course, but the serious ones, i dont get it🤷♂️
Optimism wins this morning, hopefully that 10th helps break Key back into some power and despite how badly I feel we have played, we got a chance to win the series on the back of our pitching. Could be above .500 once again
