Morning Rundown: MLB executives weigh in on Rookie of the Year
2025 Rookie of the Year, Prospect storylines for the upcoming season
MLB.com ran a story after polling some MLB front office executives to give an idea of who they thought might win the 2025 Rookie of the Year award.
The American League finished in a tie, with Roman Anthony and Jackson Jobe getting 19.1% of the vote. Jobe is widely considered the best pitching prospect in baseball, and Anthony merged as one of the best hitting in 2024.
Jobe got a taste of the majors down the stretch.
The rest of the voting went as follows;
Jasson Dominguez - 17%
Coby Mayo - 14.9%
Kristian Campbell - 8.5%
Jacob Wilson - 8.5%
Jac Caglianone, Nick Kurtz, Kumar Rocker, and Kyle Teel also received votes.
On the National League side, Washington Nationals outfielder Dylan Crews received 50% of the votes. He made his major league debut at the end of the 2024 season.
Matt Shaw - 18.8%
Bubba Chandler - 10.4%
Jordan Lawlar - 6.3%
Dalton Rushing and Thomas Saggese also received votes.
Regardless of who got votes here, 79.1% of those who voted believed that Roki Sasaki ended up the favorite wherever he went.
MLB.com had another article talking about 25 prospect storylines for 2025. Some highlights include Jac Caglianone hitting and pitching in the minors, Jesus Made heading to the US, Boston’s big three of hitting prospects, and Andrew Painter returning to the mound.

I know its not at all an exciting move, but I feel like Austin Hays is probably a fairly likely move to round out the roster. Before last season, he put together 3 straight years of 2-3 bWAR, which would be a very welcome addition if he could get to that level (huge IF there)
Having a continued pipeline of guys making noise as top rookies to come up would be one way to build sustained success. After Bubba, our next best hopes are probably Termarr/Barco for next year? Not that I am truly expecting either of those to jump forward, but sure would be nice if they did
