Morning Rundown: Paul Skenes allows one run over eight innings, Pirates lose 1-0
The offense fails to score, Pirates swept by the Phillies
Paul Skenes pitched brilliantly, allowing just one run over eight innings, striking out nine, but getting hit with the loss after the Pirates were shut out again.
The start qualifies as Skenes’ first complete game, but with the loss, he falls to 3-5 on the season.
Pirates’ hitters combined for six singles, doubling the Phillies, who finished with three. A Brandon Marsh force-out plated the only run, with Nick Castellanos scoring from third.
Pittsburgh will now head home for seven straight. They open up a three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds before the Milwaukee Brewers come to town for four over the weekend.
Their road trip was disastrous, losing five of six against the Mets and Phillies
Mitch Jebb continued his hot week, with his fourth straight multi-hit game, going 2-4 with a pair of stolen bases.
In six games this week, Jebb went 12-24 with six runs scored, a double, two triples, and was 4/5 on stolen bases.

Imagine being a Phillies fan and knowing Abel is going to be sent down so Taijuan Walker can start.
He was pretty amped up; heater was up almost 2 ticks from where he was in AAA.
