Morning Rundown: Paul Skenes pitches into the fourth inning, Peguero with late go-ahead home run
Paul Skenes pitches into fourth inning, Liover Peguero hits go-ahead home run in eighth inning
The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Baltimore Orioles 9-5, winning their second straight game after dropping three straight.
Paul Skenes pitched one batter into the fourth inning, allowing two earned runs (one scored after he was lifted) on four hits and two walks while striking out three.
Kyle Nicolas struck out two batters in his inning, getting the win but more importantly, didn’t walk anybody. Valentin Linarez struck out a batter and allowed a walk in the ninth inning to wrap things up.
Offensively, Endy Rodriguez went 3-3 with a run and RBI. He has a 1.283 OPS this spring. Nick Yorke played first base and went 1-2 with a double and RBI. It was one of two extra-base hits the Pirates recorded on the day.
The other came in the eighth inning where Liover Peguero hit his first of the spring to give the Pirates the lead. Jason Delay padded that lead with a bases-clearing single to make it 9-5.
Pittsburgh heads back to LECOM for a game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Jared Jones is the expected starter and will face Cristopher Sanchez with a first pitch time of 1:05 pm ET.

this Endy is only a catcher nonsense needs to end
Just a fantastic Spring training from our Catchers. Every good baseball team has to have leadership from that Catcher position and the Pirates have two - Joey Bart and Endy Rodriguez - that will go into the regular season, and a third, Jason Delay who could step in whenever needed.
Congrats to the Athletics who locked up Lawrence Butler for 7 or 8 years after only 1 year of MLB Service. We need to take action with Oneil Cruz, who is into his 3rd year of MLB Service. Granted, after his ankle injury, we needed to see how he would respond, but that was very positive, and we are doing nothing, or so it seems. We still need another MOTO hitter - be nice if we could locate a SS who can field well and hit 20+ HR.
