Pirates avoid a sweep in Atlanta, top performers in the minors from the previous week.
The Pittsburgh Pirates salvaged a game in their series against the Atlanta Braves and avoided a sweep, winning on Sunday 4-2.
Bailey Falter spun five strong innings, allowing one run on two hits and four walks while striking out five. Kyle Nicolas, Carmen Mlodzinski, and Aroldis Chapman followed the start and closed things out.
The win was the Pirates’ 40th of the season. Oneil Cruz and Rowdy Tellez hit home runs, accounting for all four runs. Nick Gonzales picked up a pair of hits, including a double.
Bryan Reynolds' hitting streak ended at 25 games after going 0-4 with two strikeouts on Sunday.
After a day off on Monday, the Pirates begin a seven-game homestand, facing the Cardinals and Mets. They have 13 games left until the All-Star break.

Despite losing two of their better players to promotions recently, the Greensboro Grasshoppers had a strong week, winning five of six against Jersey Shore. On the other hand, the Altoona Curve only won one of their six games against Akron.
