Morning Rundown: Pirates comeback in ninth, win in extra-innings against Giants
Pirates score four runs in the ninth, walk-off in extra innings
The Pittsburgh Pirates scored four runs in the ninth inning to tie the game before a Nick Gonzales first-pitch single up the middle won it for them in extra-innings.
It was Oneil Cruz who stole the show, picking up three hits on the night, including two doubles. He also had not only one but two batted balls that traveled 120+ mph off the bat. They currently stand as the two hardest-hit balls in the majors this season.
Martin Perez allowed four runs, but only two were earned, across his 4.1 innings pitched on the day. He was followed by Luis Ortiz, who pitched 2.2 innings out of the bullpen.
David Bednar pitched the tenth inning, striking out a batter and picking up his third win of the season.
With the first win out of the way, having to face Logan Webb as well, the Pirates will have Jared Jones and Paul Skenes on the mound for the next two games.
The Pirates announced their third Hall of Fame class on Tuesday, with Jim Leyland, Barry Bonds, and Manny Sanguillen all to be inducted on August 24.
Leyland managed the Pirates’ early 90s playoff runs. Bonds was the NL MVP during the 1990 and 1992 seasons. Sanguillen was part of two World Series teams during the 1970s.

One thing about Hank outside of the stats that's clearly obvious is that he's abandoned his Driveline stance in favor of his original.
Now of course that original stance didn't exactly light up big league pitchers last year either, but you have to give them credit for real, intentional player dev here.
Call him up already:
