Morning Rundown: Pirates have historic offensive night, Patrick Reilly strikes out nine
Pirates have historic home run barrage in win against Mets
Bryan Reynolds and Rowdy Tellez fueled a historic offensive outburst by the Pittsburgh Pirates offense, leading the way to a 14-2 victory against the New York Mets.
Among his four hits on the night, two were home runs for Bryan Reynolds—one of which was a grand slam. He now has 16 on the season and drove in five runs on the day.
Joining the mix, both of Tellez’s hits were home runs, including his own grand slam. After a painfully slow start, Tellez has seven home runs in the season and 28 RBIs. He is now tied for third on the team in runs driven in.
Michael A. Taylor also picked up four hits on the night, including his second home run.
The Pirates hit seven home runs on the night, with five players picking up multiple hits.
The offensive outburst was enough for Paul Skenes, who pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out eight.
He’s now 5-0 after what was his 10th start in the majors.
Per Derek Shelton, Jared Jones has a grade two lat muscle strain, and it will be about two weeks until he throws again.
Jones was placed on the injured list on Thursday, and Joshua Palacios was called up.
After making the roster on Opening Day, Jones quickly emerged as a legitimate Rookie of the Year candidate.
In 16 games this year, Jones has posted a 5-6 record with a 3.56 ERA and has struck out 98 batters in 91 innings pitched.

Lead on sportscenter last night was the pirates. Not the Yankees, not the Red Sox, but the Pittsburgh Pirates. Im guessing it’s been close to a decade since that happened.
Off topic.... I am going to Miwaukee the 10th and 11th. Has it been announced when Skenes next start is?
