Morning Rundown: Pirates lose to Orioles 6-4, Josh Palacios returns
Pirates drop another game, this time against the Orioles, with Joshua Palacios also making his spring debut.
The Pittsburgh Pirates mustered up just five hits on Wednesday, all singles, in their 6-4 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.
Mitch Keller has struggled a bit in his last two starts but did complete four innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits and one walk while only striking out a single batter.
Aroldis Chapman allowed three hits and an earned run in his inning of work. Carmen Mlodzinski and Braxton Ashcraft each allowed runners on but got out of their innings scoreless.
Liover Peguero had a pair of hits on the night, bringing his Spring Training average to .429. Jared Triolo, who is competing with Peguero for playing time at second base, also had a hit, going 1-3.
Alika Williams, who picked up a hit and scored a run, could also potentially get some playing time at second base.
Josh Palacios, who played for the first time this Spring, went 0-2 with a run, walk, and RBI.
The Pirates have Thursday off before playing two games on Friday, one at home against the Minnesota Twins and the other on the road, facing the Atlanta Braves.
Martin Perez will face the Twins, while Marco Gonzales will travel on the road to play the Braves. Both games are expected to start at 1:05 p.m. ET.
