Pirates make a minor league signing, Alika Williams clears waivers, Top 25 prospects released
The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed right-handed pitcher Jarod Bayless to a minor-league contract on Friday.
Bayless, 28, was a 33rd-round pick out of Dallas Baptist in 2019. He posted a 1-1 record with two saves and a 4.76 ERA in 22.2 innings last year in Double-A. He walked nine, struck out 16, and hit another 13 batters.
He has three games above Double-A in his career.
Alika Williams cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis. He was designated for assignment by the Pirates to make room for left-handed pitcher Tim Mayza on the 40-man roster.
The Pirates will still need to make a corresponding move to officially add Tommy Pham to the 40-man.
Williams will still attend major league spring training as a non-roster player.
