Morning Rundown: Pirates swept by the Royals, losing streak at six games
Pirates lose again, three games until the All-Star break
The Pittsburgh Pirates rallied late to tie the game, but ultimately lost their second straight game by the score of 4-3 to the Kansas City Royals.
It extends the overall losing streak to six games, and their record is 38-56 with three more games until the All-Star break.
Tommy Pham continues his recent tear, picking up three more hits while also scoring a run. Ke’Bryan Hayes drove in a pair of runs that momentarily tied the game at three in the sixth inning.
A Salvador Perez home run off Isaac Mattson in the eighth was the difference, with the Royals winning again.
The Pirates have Thursday off before heading to Minnesota for three more games against the Twins. That will lead them into the Draft and the All-Star break.
Paul Skenes is set to face Joe Ryan in the series opener on Friday.
