Morning Rundown: Pirates swept by White Sox, have lost 11 of 12
White Sox complete sweep of Pirates
The free fall by the Pittsburgh Pirates continued, as they were swept by the team that set a record for most losses in a season in 2024 and currently has the second-fewest wins.
Getting swept was already bad, but they were outscored 27-7 in those three games.
Andrew Heaney got bombed again, allowing seven earned runs over four innings pitched. His ERA has now crossed over into the fives (5.03).
Yohan Ramirez came in and pitched a solid three innings in relief. He struck out five batters, and 32 of his 37 pitches went for strikes.
One of the lone highlights on the offensive side of things over the weekend, Nick Gonzales went 1-2 with an RBI, two walks, and a run scored.
The Detroit Tigers now come to town, and if there is any positive to take out of it, they’ll at least miss Tarik Skubal, who pitched on Sunday.
Paul Skenes to pitch for the Pirates, with an expected start time of 6:40 pm ET.
