Morning Rundown: Pirates to stick with Sports Net Pittsburgh, Spring breakout prospect showcase
The Pittsburgh Pirates made their decision on broadcasting home.
While there are questions about the on-the-field stuff for the Pittsburgh Pirates, we at least know who and where the games will be broadcast once the regular season starts.
The team announced they will continue broadcasting their games on SportsNet Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
It came down to either continuing to broadcast their games on SN Pittsburgh, along with the Penguins or having major league baseball handle everything.

MLB announced ‘Spring Breakout’ that will take place during Spring Training this upcoming year.
Each team will assemble a roster of players, filled with prospects, to compete against each other from March 14-17. The game will be a seven-inning exhibition, with each team playing at least one game.
The group that the Pirates put together will face the Baltimore Orioles at LECOM field in Bradenton on March 14 at 7:05 pm ET.
For fun, today’s feature will be a hypothetical team the Pirates could put together to face the Orioles.

This Spring Breakout thing kills me inside because they are hyping up something you can get for free at Pirate City in a better form. Would you rather pay for a game with assigned stadium seats or go to Pirate City, where you can watch two games, stand right behind the catcher during bullpen warmups, see batting practice going on at another field? This is a complete MLB money grab BUT they are making it sound like you can't get better for free. It feels like this is going to lead to them charging for more during MILB Spring Training down the line. I'd watch this prospect game if it's on, but if you're thinking about paying to go to it, don't. Save every penny of that money and watch something better up close at Pirate City. MLB doesn't need anymore of your money, they have enough.
