Priester optioned, Mlodzinski to the majors
The Pittsburgh Pirates optioned right-handed pitcher Quinn Priester to Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday. As a corresponding move, they have recalled Carmen Mlodzinkski, who joined the team in Milwaukee.
Priester, 23, has a 0-4 record in five starts this season with the Pirates, posting a 4.33 ERA across 27 innings pitched. He’s pitched better than the numbers suggest but hasn’t had much run support in the games he’s pitched.
In three of the five games that Priester has started, the Priester has been shut out. They have four runs in the five games he’s started.
Mlodinzski, 25, hasn’t pitched the best in Triple-A this season, posting a 6.60 ERA in 15 innings pitched with Indianapolis.
The Bradenton Marauder’s 11-game winning streak was ended by the Tampa Tarpons on Wednesday, losing 4-0.
Ryan Harbin started as a part of his rehab assignment, pitching the first two innings and striking out three. Antwone Kelly followed him up and got hit with the loss after allowing three runs in four innings.
Luigi Hernandez was recently activated off the injured list and pitched 1.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out three.
The offense managed just three hits, two of which were by Jeral Toledo—who was hitting in the leadoff spot. Omar Alfonzo went 0-2 but also walked twice. Keiner Delgado picked up the other hit but also stole his second base.

Seems to be no less flummoxed by breaking stuff. Where's Jobu when you need him.
BUT, he does seem to really be hunting fastballs with fervor. Maybe a slim window to sucess?
Interesting to me at least, these new bat tracking metrics are really blowing up the ole eye test. Would a kid like this be anywhere near as highly graded coming out of the draft if we knew that actually, his swing is slightly slower and longer than Jack Suwinski? Real eye opener for me on that.
