Morning Rundown: Quinn Priester tosses seven, one-hit innings
Priester throws seven, one-hit innings.
Quinn Priester was lights out on Sunday, tossing seven one-hit innings for the Indianapolis Indians. He walked two while striking out three and threw 81 pitches, 48 of which went for strikes.
After starting the season with the Indians, Priester had a brief stint with the Pirates before being sent back to Triple-A.
This was his second start since being optioned, and now a potential opportunity could arise for the former first-round pick.
Martin Perez, who pitched on Sunday for the Pirates, left due to a left groin issue after just three innings.
Priester generated nine whiffs on the day, with the slider getting a 40% miss rate.
If Perez is set to miss time, things line up perfectly for Priester to step in and get another crack in the majors. The Pirates have two off days this week, so they won’t need Perez.
PJ Hilson continues to tear the cover off the ball since getting promoted to Greensboro, hitting his sixth home run in High-A, this one a walk-off.
The Greensboro offensive machine continued on Sunday, as they hit three home runs, with Shawn Ross adding another two.
The infielder-turned-catcher has eight home runs in his second stint with the Grasshoppers.
Jack Brannigan picked up a double and Charles McAdoo had a rare no-hit game.

Just watched Gorski blast one out to center in Indy's blowout. His swing still makes me squirm, but he has the bat speed and strength to crush the ball if he makes contact. He's got 7 in his last 9 games, or something like that.
