Morning Rundown: Randall Grichuk signs with the Diamondbacks, more NRI for the Pirates this Spring Training
Free agent outfielders sign with teams, Pirates invite players to Spring Training
The Arizona Diamondbacks have resigned free-agent outfielder Randal Grichuk to a one-year contract worth $5 million. It also comes with a mutual option for 2026.
Grichuk, 33, has played for the Cardinals, Blue Jays, Angels, and Diamondbacks in his career. He was drafted 24th overall in 2009 by the Angels.
Last year, he hit .291/.348/.528 with 12 home runs and a wRC+ of 139.
One of the players the Pirates were apparently linked to this offseason, Grichuk, has been an effective hitter against left-handed pitchers while playing right field.
Another outfielder, Ramon Laureano, was signed by the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday to a one-year contract worth $4 million.
Laureano, 30, played for the Cleveland Guardians and Atlanta Braves in 2024, hitting .259/.311/.437 and hitting 11 home runs. He began his career with the Oakland Athletics after being drafted by the Houston Astros in the 14th round of the 2014 draft.
The Pittsburgh Pirates announced an additional 14 non-roster invites to Spring Training this year.
