Morning Rundown: Red Sox sign Ranger Suarez, Pipeline's to catching prospects

Red Sox sign starting pitcher Suarez to five year deal

The Boston Red Sox signed left-handed pitcher Ranger Suarez to a five-year deal, worth a reported $130 million, on Wednesday.

Suarez, 30, has 24 wins over the past two years with the Philadelphia Phillies. Last year, he posted a 3.20 ERA with 151 strikeouts over 157.1 innings pitched while finishing as a 4.0-fWAR player.

After trading for Garrett Crochet last year, the Red Sox have also acquired Sonny Gray and Johan Oviedo this offseason to boost their rotation depth.

They also have left-handed pitching prospects Connelly Early and Payton Tolle as depth options now.
