Well now. Triple. Balk to score. CF gives Big Tree a HR on the deflection. I’ll take it I guess.

Endy to IL, Sisk optioned. Brannigan and Mattson called up on purpose.

For Endy, isn’t that now Elbow problems, strained glute (I think), and now hip discomfort.

Very unfortunate and concerning.

Easier to list what he hasn’t got. No malaria yet that I know of.

I don’t know who here is on X, but a current thread is Curt Schilling referring to posts he made prior to the season predicting Skenes’ diminished velocity and predicting an eventual injury. In that thread I also found this article from March that does a detailed breakdown of the problem with Skenes’ arm path. Does he know what he is talking about? I don’t know with certitude but he sounds like he does!

What he is trying to say, I think, is that it is the rate of acceleration rather than absolute elbow torque that is the cause of ligament injuries. A sudden increase, a "jerk," is the decisive factor, not reps, absolute torque on the elbow, or velocity. Through stop-motion analysis, he identifies, it seems to me, in Skenes a jerky delivery, where the trunk rotation and shoulder action are whipping the arm through the delivery, causing a rapid change in the torque applied to the elbow.

Seems like a plain-spoken baseball coach trying to write an academic essay. As the southern ladies say, "bless his heart."

The theory seems sound to me, though not well explained. What is missing is a study. His paper is sitting on Linkedin because no journal (i.e. New England Journal of Medicine or more specialist journal) will publish it. Why? No systematic study. Modern scientific studies are synonomous with statistics. There needs to be a systematic statistical analysis of a sample size (determined by statistical methology) of pitchers who have had Tommy John vs. pitchers who have not that compares their data from his stop-motion analysis. Without a systematic study, guided by statistical principles, his idea will remain a theory rather than accepted science. (A sound theory IMO, but a theory nonetheless).

He also needs to explain his concepts more clearly and stop trying to sound so "academic." Why do people try to imitate academic writers? They are truly some of the worst writers in the world. Anyway, Mr. Peterson, if you are reading this, get in touch. I'll help you set up a proper study and get your paper published. It is what I do.

I’ve been on an island promoting a Skenes trade all year. I’ve inundated BTV with my ideas.

I heard some of it and he seems to know what he’s talking about. He said something to the effect that he will have major arm problems around the 600 inning mark due to his throwing motion.

BTW If I were the Pirates I would hire Curt Schilling as the pitching coach, today.

Anyone find it curious that Vic Black is not only hanging in the dugout but he’s in Donnie’s ear quite a bit.

Pick 10 is the highest pick they can get, most likely pick 11 unless the Giants end with a better record.

If a team is ineligible for the lottery (top 6 picks) pick 10 is when they can first select.

The Giants are also not eligible for the lottery. So the pirates and giants will most likely be picking 10 and 11 depending who's record is worse.

Yet ineligible for the top 6 because they’ve been in the lottery too often.

Surely year 8 will be the turning point.
